Every day, year ‘round, Solid Ground works with extremely low-income families in crisis, experiencing homelessness or on the verge of homelessness. With the holiday season coming up, Solid Ground asks for your help in giving these marginalized families a little holiday hope.
In partnership with community businesses, the agency has put together a practical holiday gift basket for these families that will include:
- A kitchen item (pot, pan, bowls, utensils, towels, etc.)
- A blanket or sheet set
- A children’s book
- A children’s toy (one for each child in the household) valued at $10
- A gift card for food ($50 – $75) from Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart, Target, Safeway, Big Lots, or Grocery Outlet
A donation of $125 will purchase all the supplies, being provided by partnering businesses at a discount, to create one holiday gift basket – and make one family in distress a little happier this season!
To give, go on-line to the Solid Ground website and in the comment area put ‘Holiday Giving Program’. This year, Solid Ground hopes to help 175 families with Holiday Gift Baskets – can you help with one or two?
