On Saturday, August 20th, starting at 4:30p, Dorkbot-Seattle will host a new kind of festival called ‘ThingOut,’ in the parking lot beside the Fremont Studios (155 N 35th) before Ignite Seattle 15 takes the stage.
Dorkbot-Sea is described as a monthly meeting of artists, designers, engineers, students and other interested parties involved in the creation of electronic art (in the broadest sense of the term.) As the Seattle outpost of the global dorkbot empire, their main goals are:
- to create an informal, friendly environment in which people can talk about work they’re doing, and to foster discussion about that work
- to help bring together people from different backgrounds who are interested in similar things
- to give participants an opportunity to see the strange things our neighbors are doing with electricity
On Sat, Aug 20th, starting at 4:30p, Dorkbot-Sea will open up the Outdoor Cinema lot for builders, garage hackers, DIY makers and the generally curious. Everyone is encouraged to bring an interesting project to share or show, with the caveat that organizers can only provide a limited amount of power. Also, those bringing something dangerous please let the organizers know (at thingout@gmail.com) so they can post appropriate signage.
Still don’t know exactly what to expect? Stop by and see! After all, it is free…
