On Saturday, March 3rd, at 3:30p, Dusty Strings will be hosting a special concert for school-aged kids. The indie-roots band, West My Friend, will perform an interactive concert allowing the students to write and perform a song with the band.
West My Friend will use guided listening, and audience participation, to create music the students, “probably never heard, but in many ways already know.” The band will, through demonstration, teach about song construction, and show the kids how many of the skills they already possess to be able to write songs themselves. Ultimately, after a concert of great music, the audience will be able to perform an original song, written in their presence, with West My Friend.
Come hear West My Friend – Eden Oliver, Alex Rempel, Jeff Poynter, and Nick Mintenko – perform an acoustic set of four-part harmony music, mixed with the bass, guitar, mandolin and accordion. The band draws their inspirations from jazz, classical, folk, and pop influences. Find out more about the band on the WestMyFriend.com website.
Tickets to this creative and educational concert are $20 for everyone ages 17 and under, and free for an accompanying adult. For tickets, go to the DustyStrings.com website, or contact the store at school@dustystrings.com or 206-634-1662.
