Educational, And Entertaining, Experiences Of Cocktails At Barrel Thief

Next week, on November 2nd and November 4th, The Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar offers up two of their signature, educational experiences in the realm of cocktails and fine spirits.

On Monday, November 2nd, from 6:30p – 9p, through North Seattle College, learn about making cocktail bitters at home with this credited class taught at Barrel Thief.  Add a new depth to your home-made cocktails by the use of professional-grade bitters.  Learn how to create a basic bitters base, experiment with infusions of aromatic plant extracts, and leave with two 4-oz bottles of bitters, ready to use in your home bar.

On Wednesday, November 4th, at 7p, Barrel Thief owner Christopher Gronbeck will share tastes from barrel-aged Italian grappa.  In his experience, most grappa in the United States is un-aged, and its taste compared to kerosene, but the ones he brought back from a recent trip to Italy were aged in Sauternes casks, Port casks, and rum casks, and provide a more complex flavor.  If you like whiskey, he observed, it would be interesting to try wood-finished grappa.

Buy tickets now, for $25, to the very limited grappa tasting through Brown Paper TicketsRegister, through North Seattle College, for $39 (plus a $15 materials fee payable directly to the instructor) to the ‘Make Your Own Cocktail Bitters’ class.
