On Sunday, April 8th, the12-mile Emerald City Bike Ride will start and end in SODO, passing through Fremont on its looping route. This fundraising event, for Cascade Bicycle Club, will take place early in the day to minimize impacts on our community – and allow cyclists to bike the Viaduct, before it is gone for good!
Presented by Kaiser Permanente, the Emerald City Bike Ride will take 7,000 cyclists along SR-99 on the Viaduct, across the Aurora Bridge, and through Fremont/Wallingford to the I-5 Express Lanes. For those seeking an easier path, perhaps for young riders, the family-friendly 3-mile Viaduct loop will allow a similar opportunity for views and riding routes normally unavailable to cyclists.
Registration for the Emerald City Bike Ride costs between $5 – $40. Find more information on the Cascade.org website. The ride benefits the nation’s largest, statewide bicycle advocacy organization, powered by over 17,000 members. The Cascade mission is to improve lives through bicycling, with community and school-based education programs, workshops, free group rides, world-class events and more.
