On Sunday, May 26th, from 7a – 11a, the Emerald City Ride takes cyclists, including families and new riders, around the city.  Presented by Kaiser Permanente, this 12-mile bike ride is open for up to 10,000 participants to travel around, including on routes not normally open to bicyclists, like the SR99 tunnel and the I-5 Express Lanes.

Registration is still open for those interested in joining in on the ride, through the Cascade Bicycle Club.  The Emerald City Ride starts at the Pyramid Alehouse, in SODO, and besides its support for Cascade, some money will also be given to The Mission Continues (click here to learn more about this non-profit for veterans.)

For the rest of the City, the Emerald City Ride could require some adjustments to our travel on the morning of May 26th.  Transit schedules may be impacted, so it would be a good idea to check your bus route if you plan to go anywhere south of Fremont that morning.

As for road closures, in Fremont look for:

  • From 6a – 9:30a – Aurora Bridge (SR99) Northbound lanes closed
  • From 7a – 9:30a – bike traffic on Bridge Way N, N 38th St, Stone Way N, and N. Northlake Way

Cyclists will be removed from roadways at the end of the impact times, and the roads re-opened when it is safe for traffic.

For more information about other closures, check the Cascade Bicycle Club Emerald City Ride website (click here,) and download the .pdf
