Emmanuel Bible Church Hosts Volunteer Food Programs

As the Emmanuel Bible Church, located on N 50th across from the Woodland Park Zoo, holds its weekly prayer services on-line with Zoom, at 10a on Sundays, its community is also working to get food and hygiene supplies.

In the winter, Emmanuel has hosted a men’s shelter (in partnership with Union Gospel Mission) and their members are concerned, with the increasing financial struggles, that these former guests might be hit particularly hard.  Many of these men no longer have places to go during the daytime as many public buildings are closed, and many feeding programs are closed.  In response, members of the Emmanuel community are providing ingredients or preparing lunches for distribution curbside Mondays – Thursdays.

Additionally, Emmanuel Bible Church has converted its ‘Free Little Library’ from a book drop to a food drop, for a ‘Free Food Pantry’.  Hungry neighbors can stop by and pick up factory-sealed, non-perishable food items.  The volunteers have seen the food fly off the shelf, and they are asking nearby neighbors – those who live near the Church – to stop by and drop off any food they can donate.  The food must be packaged and non-perishable.
