Beginning Monday, January 18th (Martin Luther King Day,) through mid-February, SR-99/Aurora Avenue will close down to one lane in each direction, between the Aurora Bridge and north of Mercer Street.  In addition to the lane closure, southbound traffic will travel in the bus-only lane with METRO busses that will be stopping for riders.

Contractor crews working on the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program will close the median lanes of the roadway for approximately five weeks, while they build four large sign foundations for the future tunnel.

On January 23rd & 24th, expect full closure of the roadway – along with still to be announced other nighttime and weekend closures.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) encourages drivers, and bus riders, to plan ahead during this time of increased traffic congestion.  Keep informed on this, and future traffic closures, using WSDOT’s travel tools and the Seattle Transportation’s travelers information page.
