On Friday, August 8th from 7p – 9p, and Saturday, August 9th, from 9a – 4p (with a two-hour lunch break,) the Venerable Dr. Pannavati welcomes everyone to NalandaWest to explore the fundamentals of the Buddhist path. Visit the NalandaWest website for more information on the weekend, and how to register.
“It is not enough to sit on our zafus. These times call for compassionate action to be an integral part of our practice.” – Venerable Pannavati.
A former Christian pastor, Venerable Dr. Pannavati is co-founder and co-Abbot of Embracing Simplicity Hermitage in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and a founding circle director of Women of Compassionate Wisdom, an international 21st century trans-lineage Buddhist Order and Sisterhood. A black, female Buddhist monk, ordained in the Theravada and Mahayana traditions, Dr. Pannavati is both contemplative and empowered for compassionate service. She advocates for the homeless, sick and disenfranchised, for those marginalized, abused, neglected and unloved, and is known for her wit, humor, clarity and approachability.
This program at NalandaWest continues a mission towards global awakening and fulfilling the quest to live a meaningful life. Founded by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche in 2003, NalandaWest programs are inspired by the Five Fields of Knowledge originally taught at Nalanda University.
