On Tuesday, March 13th, from 7p – 8:30p, the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will hold its monthly public meeting, or ‘Committee Of the Whole’, where everyone is invited to come and learn more about the non-profit arts organization – and its planning for upcoming celebration arts events. The FAC will hold its COW meeting in its workshop space, The Powerhouse.
The March 13th COW meeting will be the FAC annual meeting, and election of Board of Directors. Candidates will be on-hand, and FAC members can cast paper ballots during the meeting – if they haven’t already voted. The ballots will be counted during this meeting, and the new slate of FAC Directors will be announced before it ends.
By March 19th, design proposals for the 30th Fremont Solstice Parade poster art are due. Local artists are encouraged to submit their proposals by March 19th, with the design due on March 30th. Fremont Solstice Parade posters get a lot of exposure, with design elements from the art used in other parts of the parade promotion. It is a great way to get exposure for your art. Please read more about this opportunity on the FAC website (click here.)
For those interested in building art for inclusion in the upcoming FAC Fremont Solstice Parade, on June 16th, the McKay Grant Fund is available for applications. McKay Grants fund design and creation of art to be included in the parade, helping transform the streets of Fremont into theater of social commentary and the unexpected. McKay Grant projects can be ensembles, installations and any other crazy, creative ideas that will elevate the artistic quality of the Fremont Solstice Parade. Find out more about the application process on the FAC website (click here.)
Artists, teachers and those accomplished in elements of parade building are invited to lead workshops for the FAC during the Fremont Solstice Parade building season – May to June. Anyone interested in leading a workshop or class can contact parade@fremontartscouncil.org to volunteer, or just get more information.
Of course, before the hoopla and chaos of building a parade, the Fremont Arts Council will celebrate the arrival of spring, with dancing, ribbon braiding, crowning Queen & King of the May, and jumping the Beltane fire. This family friendly May Day celebration and potluck will take place on May 1st. More information will be given at the March 13th meeting of the COW.
If you need to know more about the work of the Fremont Arts Council, check out the website or the FAC Facebook page – or attend a COW meeting, held on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:10pm-ish, at The Powerhouse.
