FAC COW Meeting, Rescheduled for February 21st, May Address Significant Developments

On Tuesday, February 21st, at 7:10p-ish, the Fremont Arts Council(FAC) will hold its monthly meeting (called the Committee Of the Whole) at The Powerhouse, 3940 Fremont Avenue North.

FAC COW meetings often cover a broad selection of items, events and developments, inside and outside the organization.  This monthly meeting, normally scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month, postponed due to Valentine’s Day, has two potential topics that deserve some public attention.

In an e-mail posted on the FAC Yahoo e-group, on February 2nd, Board President Michael Clark publically tendered his resignation, as President and member of the Board.  “In order to preserve the harmony and unity of the Fremont Arts Council and so that it may have more competent leadership,” were the only reasons stated in his message.  Only recently re-elected President, Clark was serving his second term.  He left the organization in able hands, passing on the role of President to formerly Vice President Barb Luecke.

While the change in leadership may, or may not, be put up for discussion, Denise Henrikson has promised, also through the FAC e-group, her intention to present the preliminary plans for a ‘People-Power’ celebration during the February COW meeting.

This festival, at Gas Works Park following the Solstice Parade on June 16th, will emphasize sustainable living, people-powered democracy, local food sourcing, alternative energy and hands-on art for the whole community.  Think ‘Carney With A Conscience!’  The FAC will have the same excellent main stage entertainment as last year, a beer garden and food vendors – and the ‘People Power’ festival is meant to augment all of that.

Henrikson will be at the COW to hear ideas, share thoughts, discover people’s dreams, and collaborate to craft something everyone can get excited about attending – after the Solstice Parade.  She will also take part in the Solstice Parade planning retreat on March 10th.

Attend the COW meeting on Tuesday, February 21st at 7:10p-ish at The Powerhouse to learn more about both of these issues, and other projects/plans/programs of the Fremont Arts Council.  Everyone is welcome!
