In March, the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) elected new members to its Board of Directors, as well as organizing several Springtime celebrations for gathering and growing this community of artists, and art lovers.
Three new people joined the FAC Board in March:
- Darcy Gabrielle
- Brigette LaGarde
- Asia Casebolt
They will join forces with returning Board Members:
- Farley Harding
- Ennie Brosius
- Linda Greenway
- Maque daVis
- Sarah Lovett
Unfortunately, stepping away from the Board this month were two longtime volunteers and organizers, Balou De la Rosa and Susan Harper. They were given a big round of thanks, and heartfelt appreciation for their gifts of service.
In addition to adding new Board Members, the FAC has a few events coming up – with several being new additions to the calendar:
- April 14th from 11a – 3p: Make Springtime Flower Crowns at The Powerhouse workshop. Learn to make papercraft flower crowns using different types of paper and various techniques. Check out the FAC Facebook page for examples, and ideas on where to wear your flower crowns…
- April 22nd at 1p: April Flash Parade at the Fremont Sunday Market. Celebrate Earth Day with the FAC during a flash parade, led by Neon Brass Party. Try out small-scale versions of your Fremont Solstice Parade float ideas, or raid the costume bins for your ensemble, and join this people-powered party. Meet at the FAC booth at the Market (near Phinney Ave on N 34th St,) at Noon.
- May 1st from 5p – 8:30p: May Day Celebration & Community Potluck. Arrive early to join in the weaving of the ribbons around the May Day Pole, then dance, sing, and share flowers, before feasting on a potluck meal (bring a dish to share.) A great way to find out more about all these celebrations, and get in on the ground floor of planning for the Fremont Solstice Parade, is to attend the upcoming general meeting – the FAC Committee Of the Whole (or C.O.W.) – on April 10th at 7:10p. This is where the FAC comes together as a community, welcoming anyone interested in learning more, to share ideas – and 1-minute announcements of community activities – at The Powerhouse.
