On Tuesday, July 11th at 7:10p at The Powerhouse, the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will host its monthly community meeting, and they’ve invited Moral Choice, an anti-racism training and consulting organization, to lead an open and public conversation.
As part of the intentional growth and development of the FAC, and to support its mission to serve all of our diverse community, the non-profit arts organization wants to welcome everyone to a discussion of how we can all build skills to examine racism, dismantle systemic oppression, and actively implement anti-racist policies.
The second Tuesday of every month, the FAC holds its Committee Of the Whole (COW) meeting where everyone, members or not, is welcome to attend and voice their opinions, ideas and concerns.
With the 24th Fremont Solstice Parade in the memory books, the FAC can turn its attention to its next production – the Luminata Lantern Walk, traditionally held on the Autumnal equinox (September 21st.) The FAC leadership has begun organizing, with a call for applications for the position of Event Coordinator for the 2017 Luminata. Applications will be accepted until July 21st, or until the position is filled.
This is a temporary, contractor position, for August 1st – September 30th, for someone interested in coordinating all aspects of the lantern parade at Green Lake. More information about Luminata can be found on the FAC website (click here,) and the coordinator would be responsible for supporting volunteers and partnering with artists and FAC Board members on all elements of the event including public planning meetings, open art workshops, and staging the parade (along with merchandise booths,) at Green Lake. The Luminata Coordinator will be compensated with $3,000 for the full term of the contract.
Find more details by contacting fac@fremontartscouncil.org, or by attending the public meeting on July 11th at The Powerhouse at 7:10p. Applications for the Luminata Coordinator position can also be submitted to fac@fremontartscouncil.org
As the FAC seeks to grow as an arts advocacy and celebration organization, it depends upon our community to become involved and to share our suggestions and skills. Consider participating in the conversation on July 11th, and showing support for this local arts non-profit.
