The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) welcomes everyone to come make art in the public Powerhouse workshop at 3940 Fremont Ave N, for free! This month, they will host lantern making sessions, in preparation for Luminata at dusk on September 21st at Green Lake.
The Luminata Lantern Walk celebrates the changing of the seasons and the Autumnal Equinox. This procession of light is an annual community occasion, with people of all ages strolling the banks of Green Lake.
Lantern making workshops offer a chance for attendees to make their own lanterns, and to help make lanterns for sale on Wednesday, September 21st, as a fundraiser for this and other FAC events. Please stop by and learn about lanterns, and how easily you can create one (or ten.) Free, public workshops take place:
- 1p – 4p on Sunday, September 11th
- 7p – 9p on Tuesday, September 13th
- 7p – 9p on Wednesday, September 14th
- 7p – 9p on Thursday, September 15th
- 7p – 9p on Friday, September 16th
- 1p – 4p on Saturday, September 17th
- 1p – 4p on Sunday, September 18th
- 7p – 9p on Monday, September 19th
- 5p – 9p on Tuesday, September 20th
In addition to lending a hand to this light work, the FAC will also need donations of supplies for building lanterns:
- transparent, or semi-transparent, handmade paper
- wide-mouth jars
- decorative garden sticks
- thin, gnarly branches
Volunteers power the house. Please attend one of the FAC workshops, and stroll Green Lake on September 21st at Luminata Lantern Walk. Find out more about the schedule of workshops on the FAC community calendar. And find out more about the Luminata event on the FAC website.
