The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) is stepping into 2017 with a will to build, and they are asking for your help to make it so!

Consider advising, or joining, the FAC leadership team!  Elections for new board members will be held on March 14th, and all FAC members are eligible to be nominated (or self-nominated) between now and February 18th.  This could be the time for you to step up and guide this vibrant arts organization, with its collaborative events, fundraising, and advocacy.

Also, everyone, whether a current FAC member or not, is welcome to participate in one of three leadership teams, aimed at building a sustainable foundation beneath the non-profit, and making it a more inclusive organization.  The three teams are:

  • Development & Outreach (meeting on Jan. 19th):  Help plan and secure funding to sustain the FAC and its programs.  Refresh existing fundraising and outreach materials, including the website and social media, and design new materials as needed.
  • Program & Events (on Feb 7th):  Be a part of planning and producing awesome and memorable events, art workshops, and other gatherings as needed.  Guide the build of the annual Solstice Parade, and other amazing FAC celebration art.

  • Finance Operations & Governance (Feb 22nd):  As the FAC works to become more financially stable, it will need volunteers willing to provide guidance and support on building systems, policies and processes for management of funds, and maintenance of the Powerhouse operations, IT systems and more.

All three teams will be meeting year-round (as opposed to committees that organize the great FAC events:  Petit Troll parade, May Day festival, Solstice Parade, Luminata Lantern Walk, Trolloween, and the Feast of the Winter Solstice.)  All three teams will meet at The FAC Powerhouse workshop at 7p, and will likely meet monthly, although that decision will be at the discretion of its members.

RSVP for one or all of the leadership teams, at volunteer@fremontartscouncil.org  Also, learn more about these teams through the FAC website, at www.fremontartscouncil.org/leadership-teams

For those volunteers willing to give more time, and stewardship, please consider joining the FAC as a member of its Board of Directors.  Nominees must commit to two years of service, attend monthly board meetings, participate actively in an FAC event or on a leadership team, and facilitate at least one COW meeting a year.  The FAC could use people with skills in fundraising/grant writing, management experience, bookkeeping/database management, and/or secretarial/treasury experience.  Even if you don’t possesses these skills, but have a willingness to learn, this is a good time to step forward!

The FAC is a 501(c)3 organization that celebrates life through art, and encourages participation and education.  The FAC is entirely powered by volunteers – like you!

For those interested in being a member of the FAC Board, contact fac@fremontartscouncil.org.  All nominees will need to submit a short letter (300 words or less) of intention, including your reasons for signing on and a short biography describing your qualifications.

The FAC needs volunteers, and leaders, to guide it into a brilliant future.  Can you help?
