The marginalized members of the Fremont community have access to three different food banks, if they need to supplement the food for themselves or their families. In addition to the Ballard Food Bank, FamilyWorks operates two food banks for those in need – in Wallingford and the Greenwood Food Bank, partnered with the Salvation Army Seattle Temple Corps.
Earlier this year, Salvation Army gave the Greenwood site a full renovation of the food bank space. They transformed a large multi-purpose room into a more organized and efficient service space, with storage areas and food bank service. They added bulk refrigeration, with glass doors to display the protein, dairy and produce options.
This improvement further expands the ability of the Greenwood Food Bank to serve the North Seattle community, as it has since 2016. FamilyWorks thanks the Salvation Army for making these changes to this space – and looks forward to continuing supplying food and technical support to this amazing team!
Of course, all food banks depend upon donors to fill the shelves and make the most basic sustenance available to those in desperate need, in our neighborhood. Find out how to donate, both non-perishable foods and money, on the FamilyWorks website. Thank you for giving whatever you can!
