Today the Fremont Chamber of Commerce must bid farewell to Executive Director Jessica Vets.
Vets has served this largely volunteer, and often odd, organization for eight years – the longest tenure ever of its short history of contract employees. Vets has not announced any formal plans for her future, but as a Wallingford resident, personally active in community issues, she has promised that she will remain visible.
At the January 27th FCC Board Meeting, a team of three people (Vets referred to them as ‘Charley’s Angels’,) were identified as her interim replacements. (Many people, including this writer, have suggested that three people, even those as capable as the ‘Angels’, will not be sufficient to fully replace the talented, and effective Vets.)
The FCC ‘Angels’ are:
- Carolyn Sherman, in charge of membership & organization
- Tricia Rarey, in charge of programs & events
- Lydia Minehan-Tubic, in charge of marketing, e-Blast & website
As for Vets, she will be working, on her own time, on organizing the 2016 Neighborhood Expo, coming April 6th to the Fremont Studios. This free-to-attend community event offers access to businesses and non-profits working in local neighborhoods. Please visit the Neighborhood Expo website for information about how to display and promote your business and/or cause.
And, when you next see Vets, tell her we miss her terribly at the Center of the Universe!
