On Friday, February 7th, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk returns with a vast variety of venues and art, with a few local artists showing off their formidable talents at a few favorite venues.
At Fremont Jewelry Design, see paintings by Emiliya Lane, owner of Frank & Dunya, a former Fremont retailer. Lane returns to display her oil paintings ‘ala prima,’ done in the Russian impressionistic tradition.
At Frame-Up Studios, photographer Leo Santiago will have his eclectic works of photography on display. Santiago has developed, and mounted on canvas, colorful images of familiar Fremont icons, yet at the Art Walk, Santiago will also showcase a collection of his black-and-white photographs.
At Portage Bay Goods, Julia McNamara of Pixel & Post will display her prints and cards, which use recycled paper, soy based inks, biodegradable sleeves, and are printed in the U.S. McNamara loves texture and creates those in her works by hand, before she scans them back into the computer.
At Pel’Meni Dumpling Tzar, they are celebrating the restaurant’s third birthday with a display of photos by owner Zach Perry. His collection of images taken on his world-travels allow viewer to enjoy adventures at locations ranging from the canals of Venice to the mountains of Peru. Come share the experiences with him, while feasting on Russian dumplings – use the phrase ‘make art, not war,’ and get $1 off a dinner order.
The Fremont First Friday Art Walk website lists many more venues participating, and the artists on-display. Come out and warm your soul with images to evoke emotion and inspire your spirit! See you Friday!
