On Tuesday, March 27th, at 6p, hear a Fremont Fireside Chat on the You Heard It Here program on KBFG 107.3FM, Fremont’s new low-power radio station. The program will be re-broadcast on Easter Day, April 1st, at 11a.
In January, Fremocentrist.com hosted this Fireside Chat with Suzie Burke, entitled ‘The Industrial Evolution of Fremont,’ at the Fremont Branch Library. The capacity crowd hung on every word about how J.R. Burke transformed the often overlooked area beneath our bridges into a vital area of economic significance.
Burke currently manages the business begun by her father as a mill during the Great Depression, and she can speak with authority about how he began with little more vision that finding employment for himself and his friends. Learn how J.R. built one of the first Industrial Parks, bringing more prosperity and jobs to the industrial area of Fremont.
Whether you missed the talk entirely, or want to remember more of the information-packed presentation, be sure to listen as Pamela Burton plays it as part of her Women’s History Month program on KBFG 107.3FM. Find out more about KBFG 107.3FM, and the amazing opportunities available at our local radio station, on the KBFG website.
Also, save the date! The next Fremont Fireside Chat is May 26th at 2p at the Fremont Branch Library, and will feature members of the one-and-only Fremont Arts Council! Learn more about this entirely unique celebration arts organization, and how the Fremont Solstice Parade gets built – and about the littler-known Solstice Pageant at Gasworks Park. More details to come, but mark it on your calendars today!
