On Saturday, July 16th, organizers have promised the last Fremont Outdoor Cinema. After 24 seasons, a summer favorite is relocating to South Lake Union – with one farewell show on the iconic parking lot at Phinney Ave N & N 35th Street.
The movie for our send-off Cinema is a 21+ only screening of the R-rated ‘Deadpool,’ a 2016 anti-hero Marvel comic book film featuring Ryan Reynolds. Directed by Tim Miller, the film details the origins of Wade Wilson’s superpowers – and his hunt for the mad scientist who tortured, scarred and left him with accelerated abilities.
In addition to the movie (shown after dark,) enjoy music from DJ Jeff Hawk and beverages from Fremont Brewing – sold to benefit The Chill Foundation. Also purchase a limited edition (200 only) Fremont Outdoor Cinema t-shirt – available only in three sizes: medium, large and XL.
Pre-sale of Outdoor Cinema tickets on-line costs just $5 each, with guaranteed seats (for those 21+.) Some tickets may be available, for $10, at the ‘doors’, although this final screening in Fremont may sell out!
Starting July 23rd, the Outdoor Movies move to South Lake Union, and the much larger grass lawn at the SLU Discovery Center, with a bigger screen and better sound. Due to pending work on the wall of the building where the Fremont Outdoor Cinema has been projected for the last decade, the movies couldn’t be shown this year at that site, and the Outdoor Cinema chose this new location.
It is the end of an era in Fremont! Come sit under the stars, and out on the pavement, for the last time. Hoist a beer, catcall with friends, and enjoy the dark fun and thrilling violence of ‘Deadpool’ at the last Fremont Outdoor Cinema on July 16th.
