On Friday, January 8th, from 6p – 8p, Fremont will start the new, better year of 2021 with art and dance – done in the safety, and social distance of the COVID-19 reality!!
With our usual Art Walk on suspension, and First Friday being lost in the haze of the first day of a year loaded with high expectations, VAM Studios, with the support of several friends, neighbors and artists, will present opportunities for performance art with the first-ever Fremont Fringe!
Healthy (and weather-proofed) Fremonsters are invited to go out and stroll the Center of the Universe to see art LIVE (and free) going on behind the windows of several storefronts:
- Red Curtain Dance Boutique, 720 N 35th St
- Portage Bay Goods, 621 N 35th St
- Esters Enoteca, 3416 Fremont Ave N
- Agrodolce, 709 N 35th St
This display gives dancers, who haven’t been able to safely perform since early March 2020, and art lovers who don’t get to see much live work due to exposure concerns, a chance to share – with glass in-between.
During Fremont Fringe, the Down Under Gallery will be open, for First-ish Fremont Art Walk, and to provide a dry place, indoor or under the canopy, for those either on their way to Fremont Fringe, or on their way back. The Gallery will have hot mulled cider from B. Fuller’s, available for free, for those who need a bit of warming – and exploring the art of Down Under Gallery.
Right now, the Gallery has on-display ‘West – East’ by Adrian Laney. Come explore photos from around the world while strolling the cozy space Down Under, alongside hand-blown glass by Rodman Miller, handcrafted creations from Vibrant Poppy, and carved trivets from Bad, Bad Ricky. For the safety of all, only four people can enter the Gallery at a time, but we will have a canopy set up outside if more people arrive at once…
The Fremont First-ish Friday Art Walk will take to the sidewalks once again in 2021, as we all look to a healthier, and calmer, year to come!
