On February 24th& 25th, the Fremont Abbey Arts Center will host a unique gathering to give voice as well as exposure to six Seattle choreographers, and nurture the dance community. The ground-breaking ‘A Moving Conversation, Annual Movement Arts Event,’ curated by Tori McConnell, returns for the second year to delight and engage audiences.
Both nights, a performance of works by each of the six selected choreographers will offer a variety to audiences, with dance pieces that display the power of collaboration, multi-media, and influences. The mix of established and emerging choreographers chosen for the 2012 ‘Conversation’ are Marlo Martin, Napthali Beyleveld, Christin Lusk, Kenaniah Bystrom, Elizabeth Mendana Shaw and Elana Jacobs.
After each performance, audience members, the dancers and other choreographers will be encouraged to connect with the featured choreographers to discuss vision, process and influence. The informal question and answer session, guided by McConnell, will take place in the Abbey Café, and include delicious snacks, plus local wine and beer.
Tickets for ‘A Moving Conversation’ can be purchased on-line for $12-$15, through Brown Paper Tickets. Tickets can also be obtained at the door, for $17. Doors open for this all-ages experience at 7p, with the performance at 8p.
