Fremont Art Continues To Stay Healthy During The COVID-19 Pandemic

As the Fremont community anxiously awaits the opportunity to emerge, safely, from their homes, and return, with great care, to operating their businesses at the Center of the Universe, our Public Art is also ready.

The Fremont Troll and the Lenin Statue have both been seen sporting masks to protect others from the corona virus, but now our Fire Station #9 mascot – the Nine Lives sculpture by Peter Reiquam – has been spotted by former #9 fire fighter Joe O’Malley taking care to avoid cross-species (and art) contamination.

While still officially unidentified, the anonymous silhouette of a UW Rower from the Berlin 1936 Olympic Games (if you do know the statue’s name and/or artist, please contact instigator@fremocentrist.com) also took to wearing a mask two weeks ago.

While he’s not wearing his mask correctly (it’s not covering his rather prominent nose) the Fremont Troll showed his solidarity, and his solitar-ity! Photo by Heather Mercill, Apr ’20

It is a great time to visit the outdoor art exhibit that is at the Center of the Universe, and to wave – from a safe distance – to your friends at the stores and restaurants of Fremont.  Find out about some of the pieces in the Fremocentrist Art Inventory (click here.)
