The Seattle Public Library Fremont Branch has several upcoming activities, all free, where community members can come together to learn, play and build on our resources.
On Saturday, February 4th, from 2p – 5p, all game players are invited to stop by for a quick board game, card game or coloring of pages, at the latest ‘Unplug & Play.’ Come build friendships, or exercise your competitive streak, over games such as Netrunners, Chess, Scrabble, Clue, UNO, Mille Bornes, Battleship, and Munchkin Treasure Hunt. This event is open to all ages, and snacks will be provided.
On Mondays, through March 27th, Literacy Source will host ‘Talk Time’ from 4p – 6p. ESL students can come together with volunteers for this topic-driven discussion, to build conversational skills for everyone in need of practice in English. Pre-registration is not necessary, although more information can be found at 206/782-2050 or visit the Literacy Source.org website.
On Tuesday, February 14th (and every second Tuesday of the month,) at 6:30p, the Fremont Library Book Club meets to discuss a novel or non-fiction book – available for free through the Seattle Public Library system. For February, the Book Group will be reading a great classic – ‘Travels With Charley’ by John Steinbeck. Come discuss this voyage of re-discovery of the American identity, amidst the current upheaval facing our nation. For March 14th, the Book Group will discuss ‘Salt Dancers’ by Ursula Hegi, and for April 11th, ‘The Turner House’ by Angela Flournoy.
Get more information on all these free events from friendly Fremont staff, behind the desk at the Fremont Branch Library (along with copies of the current book group title,) or call them at 206/684-4084.
