As many of us ‘Shelter-In-Place’ in recognition of the directive from the State, we can still support our small, independent businesses in Fremont.
A majority of our retailers had to close, but most have an on-line presence. A majority of our restaurants are open, although only for take-out and/or delivery. Still, nearly all businesses can sell gift cards – where loyal, regular customers purchase a card now for products and meals later! Some, like Shawn O’Donnell’s and The Uncommon Cottage, are selling cards for less than face value. It’s a great deal to invest in future purchases at your favorite businesses at the Center of the Universe!
For now, as you start missing your weekly fix of your favorite Fremont restaurant (or want to try one you never have tried before,) consider getting a meal from one of our restaurants doing take-out:
- Norm’s Eatery (with a limited Roxy’s Diner menu too)
- Pecado Bueno
- Pel’Meni Dumpling Tzar
- Pomerol
- Qazis Indian Curry
- Ripe Catering
- Silence-Heart-Nest
- Simply Desserts
- Theo Chocolate
- Triangle Spirits
- Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria
For those unable to walk or drive to these great eateries, consider delivery. Many of our area restaurants work with DoorDash, UberEats, GrubHub, Caviar and Postmates – or deliver directly. Check out their websites, or call the restaurants directly!
As to retail, most of our stores had to close but the essential businesses are still open – HomeStreet Bank, PCC Fremont, 7-Eleven, and Marketime Foods. B. Fuller’s Mortar & Pestle is open, selling teas like Wellberry, an elderberry blend that promotes the immune system.
However, our community of retailers are alive, and most are available for on-line shopping! Check out the wares of Portage Bay Goods, Olympic Jewelry, Pipe And Row, Burnt Sugar, Peace Love & Happiness Club, Sfingiday, Friday Afternoon Tea, and DesteeNation.
On a final note: Fremont Mischief Distillery has been making hand-sanitizer, from local grain no less, and selling it in the Bottle Shop, along-side their amazing, fine spirits. They’ve also been selling it, and ran out of the small bottles they were putting it in. They’ve now got large size versions, 13oz, available for purchase for $14, in recycled spirit bottles.
It’s a difficult time for everyone, and will hopefully be over soon. Fremont hopes that everyone will return to the Center of the Universe to shop and enjoy, once the need for responsible and considerate social distancing has ended. In the meantime, please consider helping those businesses able to be open and operational – as you are able.
