Fremont Chamber Shamelessly Promotes Area Businesses

On Wednesday, January 18^th, at the new Aegis Living At Rodgers Park (just up the street from Seattle Pacific University,) the Fremont Chamber of Commerce hosted its popular Breakfast of Shameless Self-Promotion.  This meeting gives area businesses, and non-profits, a chance to share their story with others – and Fremocentrist readers.

Those who attended this meeting included:

• Awaken To Mindfulness – Andrea D’Asaro introduced the meeting with a moment of mindfulness and calming breaths.  She can help clients overcome stress, and combat the ill effects of too much thinking and fears that inhibit us every day.
• Two Bridges Church – Pastor David Ginn (who also pours at Fremont Brewing) introduced this new faith community, currently meeting at Fremont Baptist Church.  He explained Two Bridges is new and small (“more like a bible study”) but ready to grow, and find ways they can help in our community.
• Seattle Tree Consulting – Doug Smith does tree risk assessment and can help with permitting for tree removal.  He is also available for long-term tree maintenance, and consulting on your existing trees.

• Ewing & Clark – Josh Dohring can help with property lease, and sale, for commercial uses.  He can also help businesses find new locations, or sell their current location.
• Jordan Rabinowe came representing two businesses:  Proletariat Wines, out of Walla Walla, and on-tap at The Backdoor.  He’s also with Mitsui Real Estate Group, and available to help anyone seeking a new home, or selling a home.  Contact him at Jordan@firstclassseattle.com
• Fox Natural Medicine – Dr. Maggie Fox handed out invites to an upcoming Heart Rate Variability workshop at Fremont Health Club, on Feb 4^th.  Her practice, she explained, is about enhanced wellness through natural means.  She uses science-based medicine, and can help with clarity of symptoms, and pain relief.
• Shepherd Family Chiropractic – Dr. Edwin Shepherd told a heart-wrenching anecdote about a small boy he treated, who had been in pain so intense, for weeks, that the child cried all night long.  With one treatment, Dr. Shepherd was able to make an adjustment that allowed the boy to sleep – as well as the rest of his family.  Shepherd Chiropractic treats whole families, and they know that treatment can be as much about the patient, as about everyone around them.  Dr. Shepherd offers a free, no-obligation consultation to new patients.
• Sunwink Seattle – Jeannine Welfelt vends hats and sunglasses at the Fremont Sunday Market, and she had one of her best weekends last week.  Winter glare can be severe, and quickly dimmed with a fashionable pair of sunglasses – and hats are great for our wet weather!  Welfelt is happy to help customers find the right look for them, and she recommended stopping by the Market regardless as there is always something to see and do!

• Suzie Burke mentioned her business, Fremont Dock Co, which leases commercial and industrial space around the neighborhood.  She also praised the Lions’ Club, where she was on her way to speak about Fremont and Project Amigo, in Mexico.  She encouraged anyone interested in becoming more involved in the Fremont Chamber to consider taking a seat on the Board of Directors (talk to Trisha Rarey at programs@fremont.com).  Burke finally did some recruiting for the Fremont Rotary Club (the Fremont Fun Club) which is an active service club, meeting weekly at Hale’s Brewery – check out their refreshed website!
• Leaf & Water Holistic Skin Care – Holly Newman, L.E., B.Soc., B.F.A., C.M.L.D., C.R.P., is helping clients with skin concerns, through external and internal methods.  Soon, Leaf & Water will launch an on-line store selling the products Newman has formulated, and her clients love, retail.
• Edward Jones – Jana Dankova has opened her office in Ballard, but she is ready to help clients in Fremont, working in partnership with long-time Fremont agent, Marko Tubic.  She can help with retirement planning and questions on taxes.  She wants to work as a partner with her clients, finding the best solutions to their concerns.
• Culture Foundry – Jory Goehle spoke on the ways she can help businesses with their websites, using the wide range of technologies available today to aid them in reaching customers.  Explore the possibilities of successful website design.
• Sunrise Container Design – They can provide seasonal maintenance of plant containers in-front of your business, which can significantly influence your customer experience.  Make your business unforgettable with custom designed outdoor container gardens.

• Green Cleaning Seattle – Under fearless entrepreneurial leadership, this residential (and small commercial) cleaning company continues to progressively evolve.  They’ve launched a line of soaps, developed by their hands-on experience with cleaning.  Contact Green Clean Seattle to find out more about how they can give you back more of your time, and peace of mind.

• Sub Station – Dave West introduced this new venue in West Fremont, open at 5p every day.  They’ve got burlesque on Tuesdays, individual Kareoke rooms, and rehearsal/recording spaces for musicians.  West has also just signed to dramatically increase the square footage of Sub Station, soon increasing the flexible event space available this spring.
• Hana Design – Charles Coghlan brings a deep well of education and a profound love of Ikebana to his classes, taught at Nalanda West.  The classes allow for focus and relaxation as students get history, philosophy and flowers to create their own beautiful Ikebana sculpture.  Classes take place on Wednesday evenings and Thursday afternoons, or Coghlan can bring one to your group.
• Aegis Living – As the hosts, sharing the lovely space for this meeting, representatives from Aegis spoke last.  The meeting took place in a general purpose area, with a flexible bar that served continental breakfast, while a theater, beauty salon, garden area and crafts room led off from it.  A spa and exercise room were down the hall.  The 3 month old space which has 129 apartments is available now for full-spectrum assisted living care.

  

  Aegis designs each of its facilities for the neighborhood it occupies, and none are the same.  Another nearby facility, on Galer, has been open for 15 months and is half the size of Rodgers Park – and 85% occupied.  They offer tours and consultation to prospective residents, and their families, even if Aegis isn’t quite what they need.  They also have a Trial Stay program, with a Daily Rate, so prospective residents can come for 21 days, with no commitment, to see if Aegis feels right for them.  Contact Joan Rettmann, at joan.rettmann@aegisliving.com for more information.

The Shameless Self-Promotion ended quickly, with everyone being so respectful of time that plenty remained for networking and socializing one-to-one.  There was also praised heaped on Trisha Rarey, the Fremont Chamber staffer who organized and led the meeting.
