Over the weekend of December 1st, 2nd & 3rd, Fremont Festivus offers ways to explore and be entertained here at the Center of the Universe. From the annual Fremont Chamber of Commerce Lenin Lighting, to the brand-new Roamin’ Holiday Bazaar, check out the offerings and get engaged in our community!
On Friday, December 2nd, starting at 5p, help us light up our bronze statue of the dead dictator decorated with Christmas lights. Enjoy live music, snacks, voting, dancing and carols. Fremont’s Santa need young elves to help flip the light switch, although everyone will be invited to participate in acts of strength. It promises to be a fun, community event, ending at 6:30p, when SeaTown Sound finishes their set.
From 6p – 9p, the Fremont Art & Gift Walk provides a dozen places for viewing art for free, and purchasing unique, creative gift items. Portage Bay Goods will host a holiday party, with gift bags for the first visitors in the door after the Lenin gets lit at 6p. Get a list of participating venues at the Lighting, or visit the Fremont First Friday Art Walk website.
On Saturday, December 2nd, stroll neighborhood businesses shopping for gifts, dining at delicious eateries, and finding out about area opportunities. The whole list of participating businesses can be found on the Fremont Festivus website, along with an entry form for the Roamin’ Holiday Bazaar. Visit the 16 area businesses on the entry form, collecting at least 8 signatures, stamps or stickers, then send it in for a drawing to win $200 in Fremont gift cards. Entry forms will be available for download on Nov 30th – or for pick-up at Lenin Lighting.
The Roamin’ Holiday Bazaar offers opportunities a’plenty. Join in a workshop building headdresses at the Fremont Arts Council Powerhouse, appropriate for all ages. Get a snack, and a delicious hot beverage, at B. Fuller’s Mortar & Pestle, and HomeStreet Bank. Get a great meal, with a discount, at Shawn O’Donnell’s, Norm’s Eatery, Roxy’s Diner and The Backdoor. Take advantage of shopping discounts at Wright Bros. Cycle Works, Frame Up Studios, Bellefleur, and at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health Dispensary. Finish the evening with an imaginative and innovative fairy tale, appropriate for adults only, at West of Lenin, and use the word, ‘FESTIVUS’ to get $5 your ticket. Find even more opportunities by checking in on the Fremont Festivus website before setting out a’roamin’.
On Sunday, December 3rd, from 10a – 4p, enjoy more opportunities to find amazing gift items, only available at the Center of the Universe, during the Fremont Sunday Market. While there, sample the scrumptiousness of the Food Truck Round-Up, or stroll the rest of the ‘hood for even more options.
