Every month, venues around the neighborhood display original art and invite the public in to see the pieces, meet the artists and check out the latest these venues have to offer. This is the Fremont First Friday Art Walk, a free opportunity to meet artists while strolling and exploring the neighborhood.
On October 6th, from 6p – 9p, the Art Walk features the works of Kyler Martz at Portage Bay Goods. Many of us know Martz for his imaginative and distinctive art on area signal boxes, along with being the artist of two years of Fremont Fair posters. A local artist, of prints and tattoo, Martz started showing his works at the FFF years ago. Now, with a strong following and well-established reputation for his Americana art, mixing nautical, old world and organic themes, Martz returns to Fremont with a collection of his sought after prints.
In addition to Martz, check out other art around the ‘hood, with:
- Amy Stone at Frame Up Studios – Her paintings are often described as ‘wabi-sabi’, the quintessential Japanese aesthetic. She strives to create a balance of color, texture, movement and energy.
- Linh Nguyen at Art F/X – Oil paintings by the private artist will on display with this show, titled ‘The Part You Know’, focused on the artist’s bond with her work and the delight and consolation that creating inherently provides.
- And at Outsider Comics & Geek Boutique, enjoy fortune telling and other weirdness with Zoltar!
The Fremont First Friday Art Walk is a great opportunity to explore the neighborhood and sample the culture we often take for granted. On October 6th, enjoy this chance to meet Kyler Martz and other burgeoning artists while strolling the great shops and restaurants of Fremont.
