On Friday, March 5th, from 6:30p – 8p, the Fremont Fringe returns, as produced by VAM Studios, to bring lively dancing and performance art back to the Center of the Universe. The need for precaution and care during the COVID-19 pandemic doesn’t dampen the spirit of Fremont, or our artists.
While many of our usual art sites are closed due to concerns over transmission of coronavirus, many other sites will be hosting outside art – dancers and musicians visible through windows or at a forced distance. Art lovers, and those curious, are encouraged to move around Fremont, enjoying the artistic expression and performers providing it.
Of course, all visitors are encouraged to wear a mask, and required to maintain social distances – and respect barriers between the dancers and musicians, and the audiences on the sidewalks.
In addition, more Fremont businesses are open – and showing the creativity of our community. The Down Under Gallery will be open during the Fremont Fringe, showing works by Eric Chan, one of the Art Car-tists and a Fremont resident. Chan’s largest show is Down Under, and called ‘Far-Flung Folklore.’ He’s done ink drawings with oil paints on reclaimed wood, depicting folk stories from cultures around the world. This diverse show ties together the distinct humanity of all of us, through our tales and our traditions of sharing stories.
The Fremont First Friday Art Walk is expected to return, as soon as the COVID-19 cases drop off and venues can reunite artists and the public in total safety. In the meantime, stop by for the Fremont Fringe!
