Since the first week of March, Fremont Mischief Distillery has been producing hand-sanitizer. First done as a health measure and party favor for attendees to events held in the Distillery’s venue, Mischief On Canal, the popular cleaner started selling directly to customers and has become a major neighborhood resource. On March 27th, Fremont Mischief delivered its 1,500th gallon of hand-sanitizer.
Using the FDA/WHO formula, and local grains and apples, Fremont Mischief has crafted a sanitizer now used in retirement centers, hospitals, child care centers, and by the Seattle Police. “We feel both humbled and grateful to be able to help our community,” said Mike Sherlock, an owner of Mischief.
Working with the Washington Distillers Guild, Mischief and other distilleries around the state are providing hand-sanitizer for their local communities. Both Fremont Mischief and the Washington Guild prioritize requests they receive. Healthcare, eldercare and first responder’s needs are met first. Providers serving the homeless population are also a priority because the homeless cannot shelter-in-place as easily.
“We have orders for nearly another 2,000 gallons next week,” Sherlock said, “The requests keep growing.” Fremont Mischief is setting aside some sanitizer for the public, available in family sizes right now, either available for purchase (13oz for $14) or complimentary with purchase of Mischief spirits.
