Join the season opener of the Fremont Outdoor Movies 23rd year with this 2003 family-friendly film.

This Friday, July 10th, the Fremont Outdoor Movies season starts with a free screening of the family film ‘Elf.’  Come celebrate Christmas in July, and Will Ferrell, by watching a movie under the stars and on the blacktop at Phinney Ave & N 35th St.

The feel-good 2003 movie about a man raised as one of Santa’s elves has a stellar cast including James Caan, Bob Newhart, Edward Asner, Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, Peter Dinklage, and Amy Sedaris.  Directed by Jon Favreau, this surprisingly funny story has great casting and a witty warmth, plus cameos and references to other holiday classics.

This screening will be sponsored by the Jameson First Shot Film Competition, a summer showcase of national winners of an aspiring filmmaking competition.  An expert team, including Kevin Spacey, Dana Brunetti and Uma Thurman, judged and starred in the films, which won based on freshness, originality, good structure, good shots, good sound and, above all, a great story.

The Fremont Outdoor Movies open at 7p, with the film starting at dark.  Get the best seats by arriving early, and bringing a comfy chair, blanket, pillows or beanbag chair.  For more information on the Fremont Outdoor Movies, visit the website or Facebook page.
