World Polio Day is October 24th, and Rotary International wants to recognize the incredible work of volunteers worldwide in vaccinating against this terrible, and often fatal, illness. Thanks to the work of volunteers, as well as donors, Rotary is close to ending polio.
On Tuesday, October 19th, from 5:30p – 7p, the Rotary Club of Fremont will host an important guest speaker at Hale’s Ales Brewery. Come hear Ezra Teshome speak on the vital work being done, world-wide, to get everyone vaccinated against polio – and to eradicate this debilitating and sometimes deadly disease. Teshome has been doing work in Ethiopia, vaccinating people personally. A Rotary District Past President, Teshome is working directly on the Rotary Polio Plus program, to get everyone protected against polio – and only three countries remain to get their populations fully inoculated.

On Tuesday, October 12th, at 6p, the Fremont Rotary Club does its monthly Sandwich Making for the Homeless. Rotary members make sandwiches – using donated fixings – to deliver to the Compass Center and other organizations that feed those otherwise going hungry in our community.
