On Monday, August 31st and Tuesday, September 1st, public access to NW Canal St from 2nd Ave NW will be closed as work crews upgrade a City of Seattle water pipe that runs under 2nd Ave NW.
This is part of the construction of a replacement the 100-year-old Fremont Siphon by King County Wastewater. The project, taking place within Fremont Canal Park has required detours by motorist, cyclists and pedestrians – and will continue until early 2017. During this particular detour, local traffic and deliveries can access the alley north of NW Canal St through the parking lot just west of 123 NW 36th St. Cyclists using the Burke-Gilman Trail should follow the detour north and south of the usual trail path.
Work will continue on the Siphon Replacement Project from 7a – 6p weekdays. Find out more about this project on the Fremont Siphon website. Neighbors who have any questions or concerns about this Project may contact the 24-hour phone line at 206/205-5428.
