On Wednesday, October 5th, construction work on the King County Wastewater Fremont Siphon Replacement – being done at 2nd Avenue & Leary Way – will continue into the wee hours of Thursday, October 6th.

Crews replacing the 100+ year old Fremont Siphon will be moving sewage flows from a temporary by-pass pipe to the newly installed siphons connected to the existing system.  The work is vital to keeping sewage flowing safely through our neighborhood, and beneath the Lake Union Ship Canal, to the sewage treatment plant.

Crews can begin this work during normal hours, but they must complete it at night when the pipes are in less use.  This will require workers on-site and using additional lighting, with noise levels at typical daytime construction standards although no heavy equipment will be used.

This work is weather dependent, and could be rescheduled due to inclement conditions.  Please, as always, avoid the project area including adjacent sidewalks and engaging individuals at work on the site, for the safety of everyone involved.

Questions, and concerns, can be addressed 24-hours a day by calling the Fremont Siphon Replacement Project Information Line at 206/205-5428 or contacting doug.marsano@kingcounty.gov  Also, find more information on the website at KingCounty.gov/FremontSiphon
