On Friday, June 3rd, the Fremont Fun Run & Briefcase Relay will race through the neighborhood, starting and finishing at Fremont Brewing. After running, walking or just cheering on the participants, stroll through the neighborhood, and check out the Fremont First Friday Art Walk venues.
From 6p – 9p, the Art Walk will give everyone a reason to looky-loo into a number of Fremont shops and restaurants. Make sure while checking out the art, you take a moment to visit:
- Portage Bay Goods – Using just nails and yarn, Geofrey Redd creates amazingly detailed pieces of texture and character. Yarns & Noble isn’t just an inspired pun, but the label Redd uses for his art and design. Come see these works, and enjoy a visit inside the creative gift shop.
- Fremont Jewelry Design – See ‘A Clockwork Network’, pieces inspired from the minutiae of the strange and the adorable, by Braden Duncan. In addition, FJD will be hosting a gemstone trunk show by local artist Greg Brancati, featuring beautiful stones, hand cut.
- Frame Up Studios – The annual Fremont Fair Poster Retrospective returns! See Fremont Fair /Solstice Parade prints never before seen, and even purchase prints rarely seen or nearly out-of-print. Many of these posters incorporate Fremont landmarks, historical references, and creative art. They are prints compelling, whimsical, magnificent, and capturing the spirit of Fremont. 2016 Fremont Fair posters will also be available for purchase for $12 each.
But before setting out to explore the art, make your way down to Fremont Brewing’s Urban Beer Garden to check out the vendors, donate food to the FamilyWorks Food Bank, and enjoy the costumed runner participating in the Perkins Coie Briefcase Relay starting at 6p. At 7p, approximately 700 runners will take part in the Brooks Fremont 5K Run & Walk, on our crazy fast, flat route past Gasworks Park.
