From October 31st – November 5th, a fundraising art show will be held in honor of the late artist Ron Ho. Seventy-five artists have donated self-portraits which will be displayed at POTS Gallery (in the alley behind PCC & DesteeNation) during the week and sold, for $200, in a lottery on November 5th.
A video documentary on the life and art of Ron Ho is being produced, and this Self-Portrait Show is being held to fund the film. Northwest Designer Craftsmen is sponsoring the event, for their film, the eighth in a series of ‘Living Treasures’ videos about esteemed artists and art promoters in the Northwest, like Ho. An internationally respected art jeweler, Ho died at his Seattle home on September 7th, losing his battle with prostate cancer, and now being mourned by a large community of family, friends and art lovers.
This gallery show will feature art by artists with national and international reputations, and visitors can place their name in the lottery, for free, on any piece they want to purchase for $200. The lottery system ensures that everyone has equal opportunity to purchase a portrait.
Preview the show on October 31st, November 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th, from Noon – 4p, at POTS Gallery. Attend the culmination event, and lottery, on November 5th, with the Gallery open that Sunday from Noon – 5p with the lottery drawing later in the afternoon.
Find out more by visiting POTS Gallery next week, to see the 75 self-portraits and learn more about Ron Ho’s legacy.
