Make art in community and help with creating a more vibrant, colorful and well-lit Fremont Arts Council Luminata celebration.
The Arts Council is hosting lantern making workshops this month, and the public is invited to join in – with adults and kids all welcome! Learn to make either papier-mâché or painted lanterns, or both. The FAC has all the materials needed, although they do ask for donations of beautiful decorating paper.
These ‘make one, take one’ workshops allow participants to make two lanterns, for free, and leave one behind for the FAC to sell at its upcoming Luminata lantern walk. Although, attendees can pay $20 to make one lantern for themselves – without leaving one.
Join in the fun and creative activities at the Fremont Arts Council Powerhouse:
- Thursday, September 7th from 6p – 9p
- Friday, September 8th from 6p – 9p
- Saturday, September 9th from 1p – 5p
- Wednesday, September 13th from 6p – 9p
- Thursday, September 14th from 6p – 9p
- Friday, September 15th from 6p – 9p
- Saturday, September 16th from 1p – 5p
- Monday, September 18th from 6p – 9p
The Luminata Lantern Walk takes place on September 21st at Green Lake, starting at the Small Crafts Center and Aqua Theater at dark. Before that, the FAC will sell lanterns to those attendees that don’t have one – and the FAC will raise money to fund their celebration art programs like the annual Solstice Parade.
Find out more about the Luminata event, and the workshops, on the FAC website – or stop by the Powerhouse.
