The GiveBIG campaign returns this year, with many of Fremont’s favorite non-profits participating – and hoping to receive donations so they can keep doing their great works in our community!
Donations to GiveBIG can be made on Wednesday, May 8th, when everyone can amplify their donation. You can also schedule your donation now, so that you will be sure to give, even if life interferes – or a fun party!
Visit the GiveBIG website, powered by 501 Commons, to find all the non-profits benefitting from this community-wide day-of-giving. Or just give to one of these local causes:
- Wallingford Community Senior Center – Serving seniors throughout North Seattle, including Fremont, since 1979, the WCSC has a commitment to the dignity, independence and well-being of our elders. A donation will help the WCSC meet its fundraising goal, and continue to provide service and resources our seniors need. - Fremont Arts Council – This unique organization produces the Fremont Solstice Parade, along with Luminata, TrollOween, and year-round workshops and classes. They believe that art helps build strong communities, and the FAC cultivates the spirit of celebration where everyone is an artist. - FamilyWorks – Because of a few generous donors, our food bank, serving those most in need in our neighborhood, has a $20,000 match pool – so your donation during GiveBIG will be doubled. Your gift will provide local families with nourishing emergency food, personalized advocacy, and access to a nurturing community of resources. - Puget Soundkeeper Alliance – With your help, Puget Soundkeeper fights for our rights to clean water and a sustainable future. Through active monitoring, citizen enforcement, policy regulation and pollution prevention activities, Soundkeeper works to meaningfully decrease pollutants in our public waterways. - Moisture Festival – GiveBIG is a great opportunity to support Moisture Festival, and show love for the wide world of Comedy/Varieté arts. Help bring more incredibly creative, fiercely funny and truly beautiful acts to the festival in 2020. The mission of the Moisture Festival is to enrich the community by presenting an affordable festival showcasing live comedy and variety performances. - Urban Sparks – Empower great ideas that come from within our community, and are led by our neighbors and fellow engaged citizens. A contribution to Urban Sparks will support charitable work done by ordinary heroes who contribute their time and talent to make our community better and more enjoyable. - Orchestra Seattle/Seattle Chamber Singers – This organization is celebrating its 50th Season, and provides something special in our region: a group that combines voices and instruments, that supports local artists and composers, and that works to promote equity, visibility and inclusion in classical music. - Solid Ground – Your gift to GiveBIG this year will support young residents in the Solid Ground family housing to develop skills and gain knowledge for long-term stability. Solid Ground envisions a community beyond poverty and oppression where all people have equitable opportunity to thrive. Find more information at https://www.givebig2019.org/solid-ground-wa
GiveBIG supports so many great non-profits, and will help many of the smallest, most grassroots organizations to raise much needed funding. Visit the GiveBIG website to find other great charities, or give to one (or more) of the ones listed here.
Don’t forget – GiveBIG is May 8th, but you can schedule your donation any time from now until then.
