Recently the winners of the 2018 Washington Brewers’ Choice awards were announced and Hale’s Ales, our local brewery and great community supporter, took three prizes.
The longest running, independently-owned brewery in the Northwest, Hale’s was selected by its fellow brewers for:
- Gold Medal – Hale’s Palladium Pale Ale
- Silver Medal – Hale’s El Jefe Hefeweizen
- Bronze Medal – Hale’s Kriek, a barrel-aged saison, conditioned with hand-picked Oregon cherries
The Washington Brewers’ Choice awards provide a new format of competition that has the brewers themselves judging the entries, choosing based on their knowledge of the science and art of crafting brews.
“We are particularly proud of winning in the Pale Ale category,” said Hale’s founder, Mike Hale, who first released the flagship Hale’s Palladium Pale Ale on July 4th, 1983. As the original pale ale in the Northwest, Hale’s Palladium has been on the market longer than almost any other craft beer brand. “It’s very gratifying that fellow brewers awarded our Palladium Pale Ale a gold medal,” Hale added, “After 35 years, it’s still outstanding!”
It is possible to sample and enjoy nearly every Hale Ale in the Brew Pub, on Leary Way – now accompanied by delicious dishes by El Camion Mexican Restaurant. Stop by whenever you want an award-winning ale, or just need a break with great food and great beer.
Friends (and craft beer devotees) can also taste a special selection of vintage and rare beers at the Hale’s Brewery 35th Anniversary Party on Saturday, July 28th from 1p – 6p. In Hale’s Taproom, celebrate the longevity and success of our friends at Hale’s, with live music, raffles, good eats, and words from the brewers, with shout outs to industry friends. Oh, and great beer!
