This summer, the community is coming together to improve the play area in the public, ADA accessible B.F. Day School Upper Playfields. Over three Saturdays, volunteers are being sought to help with clearing the area and installing new play equipment – then replacing the surface materials.
Can you help? All help would be gratefully appreciated.
On Saturday, August 19th, from 10a – 4p, volunteers from The Hallows Church are participating in City Serve Day and showing their care and concern for our community by removing wood chips and pea gravel from around the existing play structures. These volunteers will be joined by anyone else able to lend their hands. Many hands make light work – and make it possible for our children to have a safer, better play area.
On Saturday, August 26th, from 9a – 4:30p, volunteers from B.F. Day School, plus any other groups that want to win great goodwill and improve their karma, are going to be needed for installing new play equipment. Every hand is needed for two shifts of work – with training provided at the start of each shift. The shifts are 9a – 1p, and 12:30p – 4:30p, and due to the specific nature of this work, they ask that volunteers sign-up for a shift.
A week later, possibly on September 2nd (depending on the availability of volunteers,) from 10a – 4p, volunteers are once again needed to get the play area ready to open. Volunteers will spread the filter fabric, along with pea gravel and new play chips, around the new play structure.
Please consider signing up for a shift, and engaging friends and neighbors in this important community improvement work. All volunteers can register through SignUp Genius (click here,) for any shift. There are also places for those who can contribute snacks and/or beverages. For more information, contact Carrie Bauer at B.F. Day School – cbauer@seattleschools.org
