The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will open their doors this weekend as they gear up for the 2015 Summer Solstice Celebration. Our entire community is called upon to help launch this season of parade building and creating art, and the first step is making space to do it.
This weekend, on Saturday, April 4th, from Noon – 4p, volunteers are needed to clean up and organize the FAC permanent workshop space, The Powerhouse. Help spruce up the space – sort tools, wash windows and meet new friends – and take the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for creating an extraordinary parade this year.
Also, the FAC needs another, temporary space where they can welcome in everyone who wants to participate in building floats, puppets and all kinds of marvels for the Solstice. If you know of any large buildings (10,000 sq. ft.), particularly ones planned for demolition, located in Fremont or around this region, and available from May 1st – Jun 27th, please contact David Steifel, the FAC Studio Hound Dog at parade@fremontartscouncil.org. The building should have operational electrical and some plumbing, and the FAC has available some funding for leasing and additional insurance.
The Solstice Parade is in its 26th year, and is produced by the 501(c)3 non-profit Fremont Arts Council. Any help, including financial donations, would greatly benefit this organization, the 1000s of people who will enjoy the Solstice Parade this year, and the cause of art well into the future. Get in and give your time, sooner rather than later, to the FAC.
