Help Needed – Fremont Arts Council Urgently Seeks Volunteers!!

The Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade has built community – sometimes right in the street – but COVID-19 precautions have made this more difficult. Can you help? Photo by Adrian Laney, Jun ’16

The Fremont Arts Council, like so many non-profits, has been hit hard by the changes wrought by COVID-19 restrictions and safety precautions.  Already an alternative, and unique, non-profit led by an entirely voluntary Board and powered by a passion for the arts and performance, the FAC has had difficulty shifting in a season devoid of events.

The legendary Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade went virtual in 2020, as did the Luminata Lantern Walk.  These events usually build the community of the FAC, and instead they cost volunteer sweat equity with very little return.

Now the FAC find themselves with few volunteers, plenty of open Board seats and a looming Solstice Parade that must be transformed in a pandemic (or, hopefully, a post-pandemic) era.

It may be a long time before anyone will want to get this close, to participate in the Solstice Parade, but volunteers are needed to make sure the FAC is still able to provide the Parade when that time comes…  Photo by Adrian Laney, Jun ’19

Anyone able and willing to assist, and lend some action to opinion, is being asked to consider joining this creative, collaborative organization.  Applications (click here,) to the Board are due February 16th, at the Zoom COW Meeting, but all volunteers would be welcome.

Visit the Fremont Arts Council website to learn more about the values of this performance art and community building non-profit.  Read the ‘Community Agreements’ and ‘Our Commitment to Racial Equity’ pages of the website, and consider lending a hand – or at least donating a few dollars – to keep the FAC alive, and a continuing force for fun and celebration in Fremont!
