The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) will once again hold its annual celebration of the darkest, longest night of the year – the Feast of the Winter Solstice on December 21st. On Monday, November 28th at 7p, at The Powerhouse, the FAC will hold an official planning meeting for this year’s celebration – which will not be a public event.
The FAC have located a site for this community potluck feast and party, which will be announced at the planning meeting. However, it has already been announced that this year’s Feast will be an invitation-only event, exclusively for FAC members and the volunteers that create it – although members will be able to pay a minimum suggested donation for entry.
Volunteers can sign-up for a slot on the Feast crew, or to lead (or co-lead) one of the crews. There will also be a call for artists to create installations for the feasting hall. Finally, donations of goo-gaws, greenery, pillows and other decorative items will be needed as the volunteers put together this grand event.
Attendance at the FAC Feast Planning Meeting on November 28th will help guide the organization, and provide input on what the party can ultimately look like. This is also the best time to volunteer, and gain an invitation. Those who cannot attend this meeting may contact the Planning Committee and ask to participate at volunteer@fremontartscouncil.org
