The January 2015 meeting (a.k.a. the C.O.W.) of the Fremont Arts Council (FAC) updated attendees on several on-going projects.
Plumbing – A cheaper, faster solution has been found for fixing the blocked sewer pipes to the FAC headquarters, The Powerhouse. The permit process requires a month wait, but the work is expected to be completed in February.
Winter Feast – The 26th Feast of the Winter Solstice was declared a success, and a public debriefing meeting is scheduled for January 26th at 6p in The Powerhouse.
Solstice Parade – Planning has already started for the 2015 FAC Solstice Parade, including a request to increase the budget by $10,000 for the addition of another staff person. The Board was considering the request at the time of the COW. It was erroneously reported at this meeting that the Seattle Rock-N-Roll Marathon will be on the same day as the Parade. The Parade will actually take place the week after the marathon, on June 20th, and a start time has not been decided. Jessica Vets, of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, asked on behalf of Fremont Fair producers that the Parade work on consistency in its start time.
Mardi Gras – At the meeting it was announced that a venue (to fit a minimum of 400 people) hadn’t been found for this potential fundraiser. A notice has since been posted that the event has been cancelled.
The meeting attendees also discussed a potential solution to the need for long-term storage problem faced by the FAC. If you have any long-term storage (outside or indoor) available, or any questions about the FAC, visit the website and/or attend the next COW meeting on February 10th, at 7:10p, at The Powerhouse, which will feature many more discussions and the annual Board of Directors elections.
