This Saturday, May 25th, History House of Greater Seattle gets clean and gets (Fremont) culture.
Starting at 10a, volunteers are needed to help tidy the grounds of our neighborhood museum at a Flower Garden Work Party. As History House prepares for a visit from several VIPs for the Official Street Naming of J.P. Patches Place on June 1st at 11a, and the start of the Music In The Sculpture Garden concert series starting June 2nd, it is time to get the garden in order.
Bring spouse, kids, neighbors and friends to help with weeding and general grounds cleaning (depending on the number of volunteers that turn out.) Also, if you have a favorite trowel, snips, rake or gloves, bring them along. Please RSVP to john@historyhouse.org if you plan to attend, to make sure there will be enough tools – and snacks – for all volunteers.
Stick around, then, because at 3p, the second Fremont Fireside Chat will take place in the living room of History House as Fremocentrist.com hosts a special conversation with Maque da Vis. da Vis has taken part in 25 years of Solstice Parades, as well as being head instigator of Trolloween and the Fremont Guidepost, a founding producer of Moisture Festival, and responsible for Cirque du Flambé. Come hear how Fremont culture has developed, been sustained and what da Vis sees for the future – beyond the 25th Solstice Parade coming June 22nd at 3p!
This free, one-hour discussion will also include time for questions & answers, from Maque da Vis (the official Former Ex-President-for-Life of the Fremont Arts Council,) as well as hostess, Kirby Lindsay, Fremocentrist.com head contributor and History House’s Fremont Icon-ologist. After the formal chat, join both for juice-and-cookies in the History House Sculpture Garden.
