Jim Daly started this collection of annual observances and I have tried to pick up where he left off, and adhere to his pithy style. As a result, we have this comprehensive, time-line of Fremont Chamber of Commerce history from conception to maturity (of a sort.)
Saying farewell to Charlotte Buchanan, and GlamOrama, a ‘Fremont institution’ and the source of several Fremont watershed moments – Outdoor Cinema, Miracle on 34th Street, Trick-or-Treat, the wedding chapel…
In the 1920’s, Fremont was a thriving community. In 1930, over 34,000 vehicles crossed the Fremont Bridge expanse on an average weekday. Then, above Fremont, the Aurora Bridge was built, and in 1934 only 13,000 cars went across.

Jim Daly, a dear, life-long friend passed away recently. He was central to Fremont, and as I envisioned writing about him, there was too much to say. So, I selected a single story to share.
