In Fremont, Kvichak Builds Pilot Boats For World-Wide Use

In February, Kvichak Marine Industries delivered two pilot boats for use in Canada, and received a contract for two more for the Port of Duqm in the Sultanate of Oman.

The all-aluminum hulled boats, built primarily in Fremont, can perform safely in all types of weather including the high winds and stormy seas experienced in southern Oman during typhoon season, and the rough winter weather of British Columbia.  Designed by Camarc Design Ltd, U.K., the 19m boats for the Port of Duqm will be used by pilots but they also function for search-and-rescue operations and as oil spill recovery vessels.  The two 36.6’ boats built for West Coast Launch Ltd will be used for charters, adventure tours, and local transportation in the Prince Rupert area.
