On Friday, January 6th, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday offers everyone a chance to expose themselves to a quick, casual and completely entertaining evening of culture. Meet the artists, see the art and visit a variety of retailers during the free Art Walk.
Check the Fremont First Friday website for more information about venues and artist, but be sure to check out:
- Frame-Up Studios – At one of the most sought after framing destinations in the country, see lots of original art and unusual posters – including a special show of prints by Bronson Shonk. These prints are based on Shonk’s original sketches, developed through imagination and skill. Shonk currently is working with detailed patterns that transform into organic objects.
- Portage Bay Goods – The fun and playful gift shop is featuring, this month, original art works by one of Seattle’s silliest and most playful artists. Eli Wolff spends his free-time creating colorful art of pop culture, often involving iconic images, jolly juxtapositions and purposeful puns. Wolff returns to Portage Bay Goods, and Fremont, with his reasonably priced art and a new coloring book of his images.
- Fremont Jewelry Design – At our high-quality jewelry shop, check out the ever-changing display of original pieces in precious metals and stones. Also, check out art by Matt LaCross, inspired by the works of Pablo Picasso and using a continuous line or ‘one-liner’. “Each image has been created by hand in one stroke, one idea, one pure thought… Committing to the idea, no matter what the outcome…,” according to the artist’s statement.
- Art F/X Gallery – This shop always provides a place to find original, hand-made artisanal works. For one more month, also find pen and ink works by Joan Czeslawa. Inspired by Chinese and Japanese artistic traditions, Czeslawa keeps her palettes to a minimum, choosing as few colors as possible for increased dramatic effect.
Explore live arts and culture, and its creators, with a free walk ‘round the ‘hood during the Fremont First Friday Art Walk. Take advantage of this excellent opportunity to get out and look at art in new ways. Find more details on the FFF website.
