On March 16th, from 7:30p, at the Fremont Abbey, enjoy the creative, expressive music of the duo Lowland Hum as they headline a night of live music.  The art-folk duo, composed of husband and wife Daniel and Lauren Goans, hold that in an increasingly polarized and noisy cultural moment, vulnerability is powerful and restraint stands in welcome contrast to bombastic norms.  See Lowland Hum with Dravus House and Claire Conway in the intimate, restrained setting of the Abbey.

This year, Lowland Hum has premiered a lyric video (click here) for a new song, ‘Slow’.  This is the third single released from their upcoming album.  The thoughtfully-paced song, about self-reflection, has been matched with a video using images of space.  In Atwood Magazine, a writer noted of ‘Slow’, “The instrumentation is bare and enhances the haunting quality of their vocals.  An electric guitar adds texture when their voices go higher, or the acoustic waltzes as the two seem to narrate the dancers in their video.”

‘Slow’ is part of the new album being released by Lowland Hum, on May 10th, which holds true, in a pure distillation, to the duo’s thesis:  it is a masterful exploration of stillness in rising chaos.  In support of the new album, titled ‘Glyphonic’, Lowland Hum will tour this spring at stops in Nashville, Los Angeles and New York City – along with this special stop in Fremont.

Check out Lowland Hum, with musical friends, on March 16th.  As described in ‘No Depression’ journal, “In this frantic, fast food, Facebook world, Lowland Hum draws us into a sanctuary where we can really feel, and dare to be human, with all the naked vulnerability that implies.”  Purchase tickets for this compelling show through EventBrite (click here.)
