The Fremont Arts Council’s legendary Fremont Solstice Parade® is just around the corner! At 1p on Saturday, June 17th, 50,000+ spectators will gather on the sidewalks of Fremont, to watch the art, creativity and spectacle of this volunteer production.
Instead of passively watching, this year, why not get involved?
The Fremont Arts Council needs more volunteers to make the 29th Fremont Solstice Parade happen. They need you!!
The Powerhouse is open!
- June 7th – 9th from 6p to 9p
- Saturday, June 10th from Noon to 8p
- Sunday, June 11th from Noon to 7p
- June 12th – 16th from 4p – 9p
The FAC workshop space, located beneath B.F. Day Elementary School on Fremont Avenue, has materials, tools and assistance for anyone looking to build a costume or an ensemble. Of course, any willing and available hands can be gratefully put to work – and volunteers learn new skills, get creatively engaged, and take pride in Saturday’s grand performance! Help build giant puppets, create fairies, assemble kinetic sculptures and aid musicians as a Parade volunteer.
On Friday, June 16th, all volunteers are needed to help relocate Fremont Solstice Parade floats to the starting point. This reverse parade will travel down Fremont Avenue and along N 36th St, people powered just like the big event!
For those who cannot, in any way, lend a hand to this incredible artistic expression, PLEASE consider donating money to this ambitious effort. During the Fremont Solstice Parade, please look for The Green Hat – the ensemble of volunteers collecting donations from the Fremont Solstice Parade audience. It costs money to build this event, even with the awesome efforts of FAC volunteers. Please put money in The Green Hat – cash, checks or credit cards can be given this year. The Green Hat is the #1 source of funding the Parade – and without substantial donations, this event could fail to return in the future.
The Fremont Arts Council has trademarked the Fremont Solstice® as part of its efforts to create a more sustainable, stronger production of performance art. However, without volunteers, and donors, this legendary (and infamous) spectacle could vanish from Fremont. Please help in any way you can!
